About him
I am fiercely loyal and supportive. I like meaningful conversations and funny banter but getting a good "craic" is the best. I think I have a lot to share and give. I have many good friends and more than a few very good friends, but alas no one "special". I read a lot and like other people's ideas and opinions. I like adventures but they are much better when shared. I dislike deceit and manipulation. I am a "say what you mean and mean what you say" person. I am very interested in the countryside, wildlife, agriculture and forestry. My hobbies include deer stalking and game shooting. I am house-trained and domestically capable. I like cooking (but less so for myself) and really enjoyed good food and wine especially with good company. I believe that life is short and is for living (not wasting). We come this way but once and this is not a rehearsal. The author John Stewart-Collis in The Worm Forgives the Plough (one of the most enjoyable books I have read) wrote "Selfish, indolent, lazy, a man may be all these things and yet still be a benefactor to the world, if he but love to sit under a tree and enjoy the sun". I like to think that concept gives justification and value to my life.
I am currently bearded, but when the midges get bad I will probably revert to being clean shaven. Photos are 2023 - 2025 - apart from one which is 35 years old. I suspect that you will be able to spot which one that is. I only include it so that those of you who are still young and beautiful will take heed of the vicissitudes of growing older. But do please bear in mind the prophetic words of Herb Magidson as sung by Louis Prima ("Enjoy yourself, it is later than you think")
I have never been bored and I have never been lonely, but I do know very clearly that I prefer to have company and companionship. I miss having someone "special".
About his ideal match
I do not believe that each person has one (or even a few) true loves. I think instead the combination of two people working together in a relationship create something unique to them. I can imagine several (many even) "ideal matches", but to seek that out would be I think more than a little unfair on the other person. To place them under the burden of my aspirations and expectation might well limit or proscribe their character. I am excited and intrigued by the prospect of getting to know someone and building a relationship with them.
A deal breaker would be someone whom I could not trust and or someone who did not trust me.
Filling in your profile is just the start. I am not a country and western fan but if you are, then I might become one. Your hobbies and likes are of interest to me, because they give an indication of who you are, but nothing you write there will stop me, or urge me to message you.
It will be when we write to each other that the potential to discover the magic between us will begin. With you I will be different to how I would be with someone else.
